Afrikaans Ou Vertaling Bible

Forums:

Hi

Please create the Afrikaans Ou Vertaling Bible to Drupal Bible.  It is free from e-sword and www.bybel.co.za

Thanks so much!

Please try this

Dear Hannes:

   Please try this attach file. But some details need to clear:

   1. Is this version for Public Domain? So that I can put it for public download.

   2. This version is "1983 Vertaling", for it's short name I named it as "ver", is that OK?

   3. I don't know it language code, so I take "af" as language short name, is that OK?

Afrikaans Ou Vertaling

Hi Mike

Thanks so much for your trouble.  The 1983 translation is the New Translation (Afrikaans Nuwe Vertaling).  The one I am looking for is the 1953 translation (Afrikaans Ou vertaling).

I believe both are for public domain because they are both older than 20 years.  The Ou Vertaling (1953) is definitely public domain.

e-Sword uses the following short names:

1. Afrikaans Ou Vertaling (AOV)

2. Afrikaans Nuwe Vertaling (ANV)

The language code is af - that is fine.

If possible please upload the Ou Vertaling as well, since in many churches in South Africa we still use the Ou Vertaling.

Once again, thank you so much for the trouble.

I also went through the file you uploaded, and made some changes to the long names of the following books:

Proverbs = Spreuke

Song of Songs = Hooglied

Lamentations = Klaagliedere

Acts = Handelinge

Revelation = Openbaring

These names are the same in the Ou (1983) and Nuwe (1983) translations.

I tried importing the file you sent me, but for some reason it doesn't import. :(

Thanks!

God Bless!

What error while you import?

Dear Hannes:

   Could you tell what error message you get when import file?

   I notice that the verses count of ANV is only 30288. I don't have idea that if this is correct or not.

ANV

Hi Mike

Thank you so much for your trouble!

Regarding the verse count of the ANV - Just like with the NIV compared to the KJV some verses have been removed.  The AOV is a very direct translation, basically exactly as the KJV.  The ANV is much more like the NIV.

Regarding the error - I don't get an error message.  I go to the configuration page, I click on the import tab.  I browse to the file and then click import - it seems like the page is doing something for a few seconds but then nothing - it returns to the import screen but then the file box is empty.  I can import from the web though, that is how I imported the KJV.

Thanks again!

Blessings!

Fixed Short Names

Hi Mike

I opened the files you uploaded and just changed the short names to the Afrikaans abreviations.

Once again thanks so much for your trouble, much appreciated!

Import Issue

Yes I did, I used the file you uploaded, I also donwloaded the others and extracted them and then tried to import.  Still nothing.  When will the Afrikaans files be available for Web Import?  Because I can web import without any problems.

Dear Hannes:

Dear Hannes:

   I've put AOV-af on Web-Import. And, earlier version miss Book Judge. This version on Web-Import is correct.

AOV Book Names Correction

Hi Mike

Once again, thank you so much for all the work you put into this module, and in making the Afrikaans Ou Vertaling available.

I found out why my Drupal site didn't want to import the .bc files from a local source - my file upload size was limited to 2MB.  I changed it to 10MB and the files imported with no problem.

I just noticed a few mistakes in the bible book names.  I corrected these in your file.

I also changed the Bible name from Afrikaans Ou Vertaling(1953) to Afrikaans Ou Vertaling (1953).

I then deleted the imported file from my site, and reimported the changed one.  Now I can read the Bible on my site but the Daily Golden Verse displays only a chapter and verse number e.g. (119:105).  it doesn't show the book name or the content of the verse.

It is very strange because the only thing I changed was the fullname and shortname of some of the books.  What can cause this?

I've uploaded the file so you can see if there is any problems with it.

Thanks!

Update all the corrections

Dear Hannes:

   I've made this corrections, thanks for all your work.

   I guess you must assign a default bible in admin/config/bible . The problem you decribe might cause from missing default bible.
